menyatakan bahwa prestasi adalah kemampuan-kemampuan yang dihasilkan karena
usaha belajar. Kemampuan intelektual
siswa sangat menentukan keberhasilan siswa dalam memperoleh prestasi. Untuk
mengetahui berhasil tidaknya seseorang dalam belajar maka perlu dilakukan suatu
evaluasi, tujuannya untuk mengetahui prestasi yang diperoleh siswa setelah
proses belajar mengajar berlangsung. Adapun prestasi dapat di artikan hasil yang
diperoleh karena adanya aktivitas belajar yang telah dilakukan.

1. Prestasi belajar sebagai lambang pemuasan hasrat ingin
tahu. Hal ini didasarkan atas asumsi bahwa para ahli psikologi biasanya

kegiatan anak didik dalam suatu program pendidikan.

belajar dapat dijadikan indikator tingkat produktifitas suatu institusi
pendidikan. Asumsinya adalah bahwa kurikulum yang digunakan relevan dengan
kebutuhan masyarakat dan anak didik. Indikator ekstern dalam arti bahwa tinggi
rendahnya prestasi belajar dapat dijadikan indikator tingkat kecerdasan anak
didik di masyarakat. Asumsinya adalah bahwa kurikulum yang digunakan relevan
pula dengan kebutuhan pembangunan masyarakat.
5. Prestasi belajar dapat dijadikan indikator terhadap
daya serap (kecerdasan) anak didik. Dalam proses belajar mengajar anak didik
merupakan masalah yang utama, karena anak didiklah yang diharapkan dapat
menyerap seluruh materi pelajaran yang telah diprogramkan dalam kurikulum.
